July Update

  • Post category:News

We have now drawn to the end of Term 2 and I’m pleased to say it has been another very successful time for our learners and a valuable opportunity for learners and tutors to socialise in a friendly environment.

Our free Morning Tea on Monday 26/6 was another huge success (and a record) with 92 people in the audience and 2 presenters (Alicia Anderson and Leanne Pettit) from Service NSW who spoke on ‘Introduction to Identity Theft’. The topic was of extreme interest to all in light of current circumstances and incidence of scams. The numbers of attendees really blew our presenters away and they will use that information to boost their case to the government for the ongoing need for this type of education to the public.

What’s Coming Up

Our program for Term 3 has been finalised and been published on the club’s website. CLICK HERE

Term 3 starts from 17 July (note there is no BeConnected class at Club Lambton on 17/7 in the morning).

  • BeConnected at Wallsend Library on 18/7 at 10 am; and
  • Hamilton Library on 19/7 at 1 pm.
  • For those members interested in our Thursday Zoom sessions these will commence on 20/7. See Membership page.

The problem we have had conducting Special Interest Groups has been resolved. See Special Interest page.

All attendees are encouraged to be members of Club Lambton to support them and personally take advantage of member discounts on food and drinks at the bar and bistro.

BeConnected classes are conducted due to our success in gaining grants to run the program. These classes are free and do not require learners to be ComputerPals club members.

We do encourage people to support us by becoming members and get the benefit of being able to enrol for assistance classes on Monday afternoons on topics of personal learning interest (numbers are limited to the number of tutors available – enrolment is required – no drop-ins).

NEW or RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP for ComputerPals is now due. See Membership page.

The ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING is approaching – it will be held at Cardiff RSL in a private room on Friday 4th August – more details later.

NOMINATIONS are being called for anyone interested in volunteering to serve on the club’s committee. Send an email to islingtonpals@gmail.com to express your interest or share the name of someone else you would like to nominate and we’ll send you a nomination form. Completed Nominations must be received by the Secretary by 27th July 2023.

This is an opportunity to join a progressive, positive team in managing our club. For a long time we have enjoyed the benefit and friendship of working together – you could be part of the team.
