On Monday 26th June our Members Morning Tea/ General Meeting was held at Club Lambton, a venue much appreciated by members for the ease and availability of parking.
An excellent roll-up of some 94 members attended, with many no doubt coming along to hear the special guest speakers. In the absence of an ill President Barry Keen, Vice President Jackie Lampe opened proceedings by welcoming members, a brief overview of the Club’s current situation and then introducing guest speakers Alicia Anderson, assisted by Leanne Pettet from ID Support NSW. This organisation has been established by the NSW Government to help people learn more about and prevent identity crime.
A very informative and interesting presentation was followed by Alicia, aided by visual slides projected onto the large screen. While all the information was most relevant in today’s ID climate, some issues created so much interest among members that the questions came thick and fast throughout the presentation (rather than at the end as was originally suggested). Alicia was very patient with all this activity, ensuring that
questions were answered as clearly and concisely as possible. With the benefit of hindsight, it would have been advantageous to have had a portable mic available for those asking questions (as for Q & A), as members towards the rear of the room only heard Alicia’s answers. However, she and Leanne were most generous with their time after proceedings concluded to allow further questions. All the while, Sandra Keen and her merry band of helpers provided an excellent morning tea, hand-delivered to members during the meeting, with tea and coffee served at the end. All agreed this presentation was most informative (and essential) with so much fraudulent activity and cyber-crime rife in our everyday lives.
